Insecurity in Nigeria is no longer a topic of discussion as Nigerian have taken it to be what they have to live with.

Yesterday 5 branches of different bank were robbed in Offa Kware State by heavily armed men who blew up the bank entrance with dynamite. The bank whose branches were robbed include, Guaranty Trust Bank, Eco Bank, First Bank, Union Bank and Zenith Bank. Four policemen were killed and six others who were either bank customers or workers were killed too. Photos in the gallery above.

Offa bank robbery so planned and strategized lasted for over an hour. The armed robbers invaded the Offa a few minutes past 4 p.m. and shot into the air sporadically to scare away residents and passersby before they began attacking banks.

An eyewitness, Mrs. Tijani, said the thieves came in large numbers, and split themselves into squads to carry out the operations in the different banks.

Mrs Tijani said the robbers blew up entrances into the banks with dynamite, before carting away money from the five banks.

Mrs Tijani said:

“They used something like bomb to break into Union Bank,”

Dennis Ifeoluwa, a student of Federal Polytechnic Offa, revealed that gunshots and heavy sounds filled the air causing business activities and vehicular movement come to cease during the operation.

“I was coming from where I’m undergoing my Industrial Training when these sounds started. I had to hide myself somewhere.”

“After a while they left. Only to discover dead bodies outside. I saw someone’s intestines outside today,”

The armed robbers in the last attack invaded the community police station known as Owode Police Station where some Nigerian police officers and a few Nigerian civilians were shot dead.

In reaction, the Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, Ajayi Okasanmi, reported to PREMIUM TIMES that the command could not immediately confirm casualty figure adding that the amount stolen by the robbers was still unknown.
