A man who tried to replicate a stunt he saw on a TV show has ended up setting off a massive fire that damaged 32 buildings and displaced at least 18 persons in a neighborhood in Cohoes, New York.. As serious as it can be the ghastly situation forced the city to declare a state of emergency.

According to official report, the inferno began on Thursday because a man wanted to re-do a stunt he'd seen on TV - Bending a metal.

According to Cohoes Fire Department Chief, Joseph Fahd said the man was trying to bend metal with fire in a barrel to create a sword like something as he has seen done in the TV show, "Forged in Fire."

The reality TV shows brings blade-smiths against each other as they compete to recreate historical weapons.

But as 51-year-old John Gomes tried is at home the wind took the flames to a extent he couldn't handle as it was windy that day.

Fahd said, "It took firefighters six hours to get the fire under control".

51-year-old John Gomes was charged with fourth-degree arson and reckless endangerment. Mayor Shawn Morse, who has been a firefighter for 26 years, called the incident heartbreaking saying, 'the city is working as hard as it can to rebound and return to a sense of normalcy."
