An Ijaw youth leader, Mr Ebi Tontimi has been beheaded, others injured during an attack on Ogbe-Ijoh-Isaba community in Warri South West local government area of Delta state by the youths from Aladja, a neighbouring Urhobo community. The attack which took place on Thursday 16th November led to the death of Ebi Tontimi. The attack which was described as a surprise attack by George prompted Government intervention.
The Niger Delta Ex-Agitators’ for Peace Organization (NDEPO) has called on the Delta state governor, Arthur Okowa Ifeanyi to intervene to discourage such diabolic acts, adding that the senseless killings taints the image of the state and do not portray the state government in good light as investors may be scared to come to the area.
Speaking with newsmen in Abuja on Thursday,Comrade Ambassador George Sinclair, the National Coordinator of Niger Delta Ex-Agitators for Peace Organization, stressed that such unwarranted and senseless attack on communities by neighbouring communities in the local government area, speaks volume of the high level insecurity in the state, particularly in Warri South West local government area.
He added that if the ugly trend is allowed to continue without meaningful and visible government’s intervention, the insecurity level may get to a point where there could be revenge attacks that could lead to a full scale inter-community war.
George who said that the incident was as a surprise attack on the collective sensibilities of the people, blamed the Delta state government for its insensitivity over the long-lasting inter community crisis that has been going on for a while without any noticeable reaction from either the state governor or the Delta State House of Assembly.
