Woman Got Shot By Her Driver When She Jumped Out Of The Car

A woman jumped out of a car on the Chicago Skyway this week Wednesday and was shot to death by the her driver, who then killed himself as police approached, authorities said.
Eastbound lanes of the expressway were closed for nearly six hours after the shooting, which occurred around 4:10 a.m. near the 87th Street toll gates.
The man and the woman had been traveling in a maroon Chrysler and had just slowly passed through a toll gate when the woman got out and the man jumped out after her with a gun and shot her, according to a representative for the Skyway Concession Co., which manages the tollway.The car kept moving and crashed into a wall farther up the Skyway, police said. A Chicago police officer arrived on the scene and saw the man running back toward his car.  The officer told him to stop, and the man shot himself in the head.
Both the man and the woman were pronounced dead on scene.  Their identities have not been released.
The shooting was witnessed by a tollway worker who was taken to Trinity Hospital suffering from apparent shock.

The Skyway was closed east of the Dan Ryan Expressway until around 9:30 a.m., police said.
