A Houston man was arrested after charging toward a police officer with a knife in Lake Charles, report according to police.

Officials say Reginald Wayne Kinsey, 53, of Houston, was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center for attempted first-degree murder of a police officer
Just after 4 a.m. on Monday, officers with the Westlake Police Department responded to the Isle of Capri Casino with reports of Kinsey harassing casino patrons. Police say once the first officer arrived, Kinsey produced a knife and charged toward the officer.

The officer fired his weapon, striking Kinsey in the legs. Kinsey was transported to a St. Pat's hospital for treatment, and then was released Thursday into the custody of Louisiana State Police detectives.

Kinsey could face 20-50 years in prison if convicted, without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.

Kinsey also has an active arrest warrant out of Texas for aggravated assault.
