How Nigerians Failed Nigeria - The Nigerian cry

How long will Nigerians keep on hating Nigeria?
The National Anthem's first line
Arise Oh Compatriots.
has been jeopardised, cause barely would you see a patriotic Nigerian. corruption now lingers in the bone marrow of most Nigerian. The lazy one either looking for quick Money
or Joining a Society of scammers like MMM
Many youths remain unemployed not because there is no Job, but because are they are not employable.
Ok, he had a bad educational training, did not come out with a good certificate so he could not get a job.
But the world richest man is a School dropout.
If there is anything I have learnt in life that is so casual, it is that what you end up doing for a living is not always what you learnt in school.
So Nigerian youth should brace up and get something doing, so they can avoid being preyed upon by Crazy politicians I call them.
A country where scandals still arise from the higher places is what can be said of Nigeria.
I don't see any improvement in Nigerian since 1960, though I was not born then. But I can see that since 1960, corruption has been the order of the day.
it’s funny how National Looting is now a hobby in Nigeria, every politician is being paid well enough to carter even for their extended family. But it seems that they want to carter even for the families yet to come. This is how many see it, but this is how I see it.
A politician that loot National Treasury can never be a good breadwinner no matter how hard he or she tries.
I see it that Most of them loot for their personal self, either to keep up with the latest world trends in fashion (female politicians) or to stay in not even drive the latest car.
It is good to do all those thing but not when you are doing it to the detriment of others.
That Nigeria is in a serious recession is their fault.
Because they fail to carry out their patriotic duties and obligation towards the country, instead the succeed in looting national treasury.
Ok I thought EFCC was meant to track down corrupt politicians, but I was wrong. How on earth will EFCC function when their boss is a top corrupt ex-politician Olusegun Obasanjo.
Each time I hear So So and So politician is being probed, I pity for the masses that are being deceived.
This is because I see all this their probe talk as an entertainment news. How many of the Probing has come to a successful conclusion and has benefitted Nigeria.
The answer is NONE

But they most annoying part is that we voted for this politicians that milk us every day. There are different types of Voters in Nigeria
Those that vote using the brother and sister thing (ethnical background)
Those that vote according to Party
Those that vote according to the candidate’s look
Those that vote Names
Those that vote according to stories heard
Those that vote using age as a criteria And
Those that vote according to character.
Many Nigerian citizens do not vote using that last criteria. Like a Market woman would like to vote for her brother, hoping she would make more sales when her candidate of choice is in power.
Or A grown up that would not vote someone below his age. Even, a youth that know little about the country would vote according to tales and stories heard.
They funniest people are those that vote according to Names and Look. They would be like, “I do not want an ugly president”. Or I don’t want a name that would not fit presidency.

Now, these last group of people have caused menace we are experiencing today. These group of people have sworn never to vote for someone outside his or her ethnical BACKGROUND.
That phenomenon BACKGROUND is one of the major problem we face as Nigerians every day. When I go out every day I see a lot of people being discriminated because of where he or she comes from.
Most Nigerian have taken an oath never to forgive and move on. But you still see them go to Churches and Mosques.
Nigeria will only grow as one when every citizen will let go of the background and come up front stage to develop naija – our country.
When an election is to take place, if and only if we Nigerians can vote the right person we know, not looking at what other have to say or looking at the candidate’s background, only then can we forge a great nation.
If it about the civil war, then Nigerians have seen nothing compared to other foreign countries like

Japan (World War experience - bomb Hiroshima, Summer War (1866), Boshin War (1868–1869), Russo-Japanese War (1904–1905)

USA American Revolutionary War (1775–1783) Northwest Indian War (1785–1793) Occupation of Haiti. (1915–1934) World War I (1917–1918) World War II (1941–1945)

Britain The Great Northern War (1700–1721) Seven Years' War (1756–1763) First Anglo-Maratha War (1774–1783) World War I (1914–1918) World War II (1939–1945)

Russia Great Northern War (1700-1721) War of the Third Coalition (1803-1806) Russo-Persian War (1804–1813) World War I (1914-1918) Russian Civil War (1917–1922) World War II (1939–1945)

Germany (World War 1, World War 2, Second Schleswig War (1864), Austro-Prussian War (1866), Franco-Prussian War (1870–1871) etc). Etc.

These great developed countries have experienced heavy siege of war but still they see each other as one. They have let go of the past and grew together to build a nation we Nigerians long to go at least once in a lifetime.
So how is Biafra going to be a solution. This question will go to my Ibo brothers that have these fantasy
“when Biafra comes – roads will be fixed, Corruption will cease, peace will reign, Social infrastructure will develop”.
I laugh my head off when I hear them say all these.

We Ibos, we tend to have this domineering attitude always and feel intimidated easily. We boast of being very versatile in business. But looking at statistics, the richest man in Africa is A Yoruba man,
Which group of people involve in small and medium enterprises(SMEs) – IBOS.
So here is what I think, we should see Nigeria as our home and accept it because we got no other. Even if Biafra is ever going to come, the same place we keep dirty will remain dirty, the same people we fail to tolerate we will still not tolerate.
The same business we involve will still depend on you the owner to develop.
And it so so frustrating that when one tries to come up with a good business, service or product to help Nigeria. The country cannot provide the enabling environment.
If you are to start a Business in Nigeria, some other expenses you will have to make would have been curbed if the State government in Nigeria is a good thing to boast of.
Lack of electricity is one of the expenses, transportation is one and resources.
Like in ABIA state, the government still work with touts, untrained workers and thugs in either task force or public services.
I had this personal experience
I entered this new travel company in Aba GIG motors transit to owerri. Just as we drove off close to aba town hall. Touts and thugs portraying themselves as taskforce stopped our movement, got into our bus and harassed the Private company driver. Where on earth does such level of thuggery and bad attitude still happen, if not in aba (an Ibo dominated place). To cut the long story short, a lady travelling with us had to pull some strings by exchanging phone numbers with their leader and they let us go angrily banging on our bus.
Also road construction in aba ,abia state is given to low-end workers maybe they are brothers of the person with the contract. But it is not right to not give value to services renderd to the public, because you have made some money or any kind of profit

It is very obvious that majority of Ibos carry out the ethnic background check before getting involved with someone. I am not saying Knowing about one is not a good approach, but using One’s ethnical background or what happened that is related to that person to Judge one is not right.
All these is to point out that Ibos are their own problem they have to solve first.
I have talked about my people a lot, though more is to be said., I will reserve them for my own personal reason.

Another thing wrong with Nigeria is the over-dependencies of the states government on the federal government. Every state in Nigeria should be totally independent from the federal in all aspect. In Germany, the federal Government has nothing to do with Education in the country, it is all on the state.
Nigerian education is good, but would be better if the State government would be in total control of the education. Not to copy the Germans, but school are actually located in the state and the state government is closer to the schools than the federal government.
I have a lot to say but I’ll drop my pen here

In conclusion, it takes You and I to change Nigeria. Let us do away with the sugar-coated promises of Bad politicians. Let us always defend justice and stand for what is right. Nigeria would not until Nigerians change. Peace and Unity (the last Line in national anthem) is a virtue Nigerians ought to keep.
Let us make Nigeria proud everywhere and every time. One Nigeria

God Bless Nigeria.
